The Peace Corps of Nigeria, PCN, is not resting on its oars as it is using this period of challenges to restructure and restrategize towards actualizing its dreams and aspirations, especially as it concerns moving the Organization forward.
In view of this reality, the Management of Peace Corps of Nigeria, PCN, wishes to inform its members nationwide that after a wide consultation and marathon deliberation, it has arrived at the following crucial policy measures:
(1) Effect changes to the official Logo of the Corps
(2) Rebrand the Staff Identity Card
(3) Overhaul the official Website of the Organization as part of the ongoing reorganization.
It must be noted that the current Identity Card expires on 9th July 2019, while the Permanent ID Card takes effect from 10th July, 2019. Meanwhile, the Permanent ID Card has been sent to Security Agencies for their records. In view of the foregoing, a Committee comprising of Senior Officers, including Deputy National Commandants of the Corps, has been set up and charged with the mandate of going round the State Commands with a view to issuing the Permanent ID card to bonafide staff of the Organization in order to prevent it from getting into wrong hands.
On this note, the Management wishes to state that after this exercise, any member of staff found with the old ID Card does so at his/her own risk.
It has been noted by the Management that since the President declined assent to the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill; some officers have remained loyal and committed to the Organization by been regular and punctual to office, while others have been posting negative comments on the social media against the organization.
For this reason, both the Intelligence Unit and the Public Relations Department at the National Headquarters and their counterparts at the various State Commands have been mandated to monitor such ill-motivated comments with a view to taking note of them if these errant officers will retrace their steps back to the organization when it arrives at its destined destination, the same Organization they have earlier condemned with utmost vehemence.
The Management commends officers of the Corps nationwide for their steadfast disposition and unparallel loyalty in spite of the current temporary challenges confronting it, assuring that it is on top of the situation, stressing that sooner than later, loyal officers will have cause to rejoice while those that are currently working at cross purposes with the organization, including issuing negative commentaries against the organization will bite their hands in regrets when the time comes.
In line with Federal Character principle, there shall be a major reshuffle across the State Commands to ensure that all major interests are accommodated.
To ensure that the measures been put in place to take the organization to an enviable height is attained, a Code of conduct has been issued to State Commandants on their relationship with staff to address some of the minor rancor been observed in some states.
The National Commandant and his entourage shall be embarking on a tour of all Commands at the Zonal level, which is expected to start from the South-west on Monday, 1 July, 2019, where all officers of the Zonal Commands are expected to converge in Lagos with a view to discussing the state of the Organization, the way forward vis-a-vis the efforts to actualize the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill.
