The Plateau State Lawmakers sacked by the election tribunal and Appeal Court judgment have concluded plans for national protest to the Nigeria Judicial Commission, NJC, to demand they’re reinstated with immediate effect.
The Senatorial Candidate of Plateau Central, Amb. Yohana Gulkona Gotom said he is prepared to lead the Lawmakers toward reclaiming their stolen mandate.
He said, we are going to ensure that the mandate of Plateau people is restored to them because democracy is not won based on the technicality of law but what the law enshrined in our Constitution.
Gotom made a passionate appeal to NJC to set up a committee to address the injustice meted out to poor vulnerable voters by going to the judgment of the Supreme Court which confirmed that the PDP in Plateau State had a solid structure.
According to him, I am not a lawyer but I understand the principle of law on the judgment of the Supreme Court where the position is very clear that no political Party has the right to interfere in the affairs of another party.
He explained further that at the appeal Court judgment, the tribunal gave the judgment in favour of APC on structure and disobedience to court judgment but the Supreme Court declared that the two courts lacked locus standing to entertain the suit.
The Supreme Court went further and declared that the issue of structure very is not valid because it is a Pre-election matter in which the national working committee is saddled with the responsibility to conduct congresses for its party.
Gotom congratulated Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for emerging victorious in the Supreme Court judgement, and PDP Legislators are mobilizing to Abuja.
He explained that they’re going protest to at the NJC headquarters demanding their right we have confidence in the judiciary to deliver judgment on the issue
