Nasarawa State governor has taken a concerted measure to ensure food security by providing new variety of 419 cassava to farmers across the state.
The state coordinator of Nasarawa Cares, Umar Faruq Ibrahim disclosed this in Wamba, he said beneficiaries of the programme cut across the thirteen local government of the state.
He further explained that Fadama programme under NG-Cares has distributes cassava, rice to beneficiaries in the state
The Chairman steering committee, the honorable commissioner of finance and economic development, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of finance averred that the main target of the programme was to reduce the impact of COVID -19 pandemic as well to cushion hunger in the land.

The beneficiaries, Joseph Mashi in an interview, commended the state government for the gesture, he, in addition, said the gesture will encourage him to expand his cassava farm.
Tabitha Cyril, a female farmer eulogies the benevolence of the state governor for providing her with three bags of fertilizer and three liters of herbicide as well an improved 419 variety of cassava.
She added that the gesture will to an extent increase yield in food production.
