The Nasarawa Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may be in deeper crisis again as the Secretariat may be shut down today following court order. This medium learnt that the high court sitting in Lafia has ordered the shutdown of the party secretariat along Jos road.
The court also restrained the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Francis Orogu from parading himself as the substantive chairman of the party.
The closure by the police was sequel to the letter from the high court following a legal battle by Tanko Muhammad, a factional chairman of the party under the leadership of then Modu Sherrif who was declared the interim chairman.
In a suit number NSD/LF86/2017 filed on the 8th of August by Sarki Mohammed Tanko.
1.The plaintiff pray that the court restrain the current chairman from parading himself as the state chairman of the party pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
2.An order of court locking up the Nasarawa state People’s Democratic Party secretariat pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
3.A declaration that Keana Local Government Council can’t produce two persons as members of the executive from Keana Local Government.
4.That the election of the chairman was invalid and flagrant violation of the constitution of the PDP.
4.That the suspension of applicant (Sarki Mohammed Tanko ) through the radio station without following due process of the party was null and void and of no effect ab- initio.
The court granted the prayer of the of the plaintiff by ordering the locking of the party office.
The Judge,Hon Justice John Viko granted prayer one and two of the plaintiff ,the prayer one was to lock the secretariat of the party and to stop the chairman from parading himself as the state chairman.
Hon.Francis Orogu could not be reached for comment as at press time, also the party Publicity Secretary, Umar Bwallah could not be reach.
