Al-Makura Approves N200 Million For NSHIP, N40 Million For NHIS

The government of Nasarawa state in its determination to enhance effective and efficient health care delivery has earmarked a whooping N200M for the Nigeria State Health Investment Project (NSHIP).

The executive chairman of the Nasarawa State Health Care Development Agency ,Dr.Muhammad Adis who represented the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura made the declaration during the 2017 Annual General Meeting/Scientific Conference of the Nigeria Medical Association, Nasarawa state chapter.

The state governor said investing in the program would ensure efficiency, effectiveness, quality and equity of health services offered to the teaming population, adding that NSHIP would reduce child mortality improving maternal mortality which was there main target.

The executive chairman who also represents the state commissioner of health said 450 Primary Health Care are enjoying the project, stating further that a “state of the art” Comprehensive Health Care was built at Kwandere community of Lafia Development Area.

He said Comprehensive Health Care would be built in all the thirteen Local Governments Area of the state, stating further that the procurement of 30 hilux van and 150 motorcycles is an effort meant to boost health care services in the state.

The executive chairman buttressed that the state has committed money to the tune of N250M for nutritional project.

Dr.Adis explained that the sum of N40Million has also been approved for the kick-start of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Scheme by the state government.

“A committee has been set up, besides that another committee for the donation of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital to the Federal University, Lafia was also in place and report has been submitted to the state government.

“You can attest to yourselves that the determination of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to see that medical school is established in the state is translated into reality”.

Dr.Muhammad Adis appealed to members of the Nigeria Medical Association to accord respect to their patients.

He also called NMA to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship and decorum amongst themselves in the discharge of their responsibilities to the masses.

The Nigeria State Health Investment Project was a health project with its pilot scheme in three states of Nasarawa, Adamawa, Ondo state with a pre-pilot activities in selected Local Government from each of the benefiting states.

The scheme whose main concerned was to reduce child mortality and improving maternal morbidity in Nigerian state is injecting $20M as grant from the Health Results Innovation Trust Fund (HRITF) and also $1M grant as an ” Impact Evaluation with 100% Results Based Financing only in Nasarawa and Adamawa states.

Other key areas of Nigeria State Health Investment Project was aimed at making health a priority to Nigerians by reaching the health related MDG’s Goal 1,4,5 and 6 as well combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, vaccination in children,, pregnant mothers, voluntary counseling ,institutional deliveries and the adoption of new method of family planning.
