Barrister Iliyasu Umar ibn Aliyu, a Chairmanship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress for Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Council of Nasarawa State says he would challenge the outcome of the Local Government party primary election.
Iliya in an interview at the party Secretariat in Lafia described the process as an ambush to democracy; He added that he opted out of the primaries due to the quantum of anomalies committed by the State caretaker committee.

Affirming that there was a primary election in Nasarawa Eggon local council because of the method adopted by the party ahead of October 6. Local Government election.
Saying the caretaker committee lacks the locus standing to conduct the election, adding that the APC from the national level down to the ward has no democratically elected executives for that has no power to conduct the election.
Barrister Iliya Ibn Aliyu said the process of selecting a candidate is by way of consensus thereafter would be affirmed by the congress or direct primaries which is congress adopting a choice of their candidate.
“if the process was free, fair, and legal, I would have been the winner because I am the most popular candidate.”
He said adopting a method not known to law is an ambush that would not give him the legitimacy that is why he is boycotting the process.
“I know the law that for sure that equity in that circumstance equity would not assist me.” Adding that he would certainly challenge the process”
He appealed to his supporters to be calm and resolute; He maintained that the law will definitely take its cause.
“The law would stay longer as a petition had been written earlier to the leadership of the party expressing concern on how some stakeholders of the party in the council had met and decided to choose a candidate against the wish of the people.
