Mustapha Lamido Emerges As PDP Gubernatorial Candidate In Jigawa

Mustapha Sule Lamido has emerged as the gubernatorial flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to contest for the governorship position in Jigawa state in the forthcoming 2023/general election.

Mustapha Lamido was elected as a PDP candidate during the party gubernatorial primary election held in  Dutse the Jigawa State Capital.

Announcing the result, the Chairman of the electoral panel, Mr. Isah Ahmed, said Sule-Lamido scored 829 votes out of the 832 cast votes, while the second candidate Alhaji Saleh Shehu, did not score a single vote.

The chairman also announced that three votes were invalid as he declared Mustapha Sule Lamido as the winner of the election having scored the highest votes cast by the party delegates.

In his acceptance speech Mustapha, Sule-Lamido said: “I most sincerely accept this nomination with humility, modesty, and determination”.

The candidate described the congress as ‘historic’, saying that majority of the PDP candidates in the state are younger than candidates in the previous election.

“As we move to the next stage of campaign and elections, I asked you to trust me, work with me, campaign with me and vote for me so that we can make the state great again”

“As I called on all Jigawa state electorates to vote PDP candidates at all levels in the next coming general election, I am Al’s appealing to the politicians and general to avoid politics of division and disunity,  

The interest of the state is far and above any personal or sectional interest” Lamido declared.
