Mob Attacks Nasarawa PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Party Chairman, Others, By Rabiu Omaku,Lafia
Yusuf Muhammad Agabi, The Nasarawa state governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party ,The state chairman of the party, Chief Yunana Iliya and the secretary of the party,Adamu Oyanki were yesterday attacked by youths identified to be loyalist to the former governor of the state,Aliyu Akwe Doma.
The aggrieved supporters of the ex-governor demanded that the state secretary of the party who is an indigene of Doma Local Government should be prevented from addressing the unprecedented crowd present at the campaign rally at the playground of Islamiya Primary School along Lafia road.
The fierce looking mobs in party T- shirt swung into action by throwing stones ,sharp objects and sachet water to the party heavyweight on the podium demanding that the state secretary should not address the crowd, The insistence of the party stalwarts to accommodate the beleaguered secretary of the party spur mayhem that disrupted the rally.
The chairman of the party ,the secretary including the gubernatorial candidate escaped by the whisker with the timely intervention of security agents and the intermittent gunshot and canister fired into the air dispersed the erring mobs from accomplishing their target, The cacophony prevented Yusuf Agabi from addressing the large crowd, instead his prado jeep windscreen was smash down.
The erring party members are pointing accusing fingers on the state executive of the PDP for romancing with the gubernatorial candidate, Yusuf Muhammed Agabi a situation that lead to his emergence as the governorship candidate of the party in the party primaries held at the guest house of the Nasarawa Polytechnic recently .
In related development, the convey of the PDP gubernatorial candidate was attacked by armed supporters of the All Progressives Congress at Ungwan Kasa,a stronghold of the APC while on his way to pay homage to the paramount ruler of Doma,The Andoma of Doma.
One of the supporter of the ruling party in the state in an interview with our reporter unveiled that the attacked on the PDP governorship candidate was a reprisal attacked meted on the incumbent governor who is seeking for his re-election, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura during his campaign rally to Doma last weakened.
“The convey of governor Al-Makura was attacked by PDP supporters calling him names, some are saying thief while others are saying deaf, This ignited a crisis that was curtailed by security operatives and what we have done is a reprisal attacked said an APC follower who did not want his name on print’.
