With the resignation of the Former Governor Simon Bako Lalong in their ministerial slot, Former Member Representing Jos North /Bassa Federal Constituency has decried that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should consider the plight of the minority tribes from Plateau North Senatorial District that were sub-changed by zoning representation during Senator Jonah David Jang to truncate the arrangement.
Hon . Lumumba Adah Adeh , who is a capable legislator ambition to join the race was to provide qualitative representation to the people of Plateau.
Mr. President should select credible men and women from across the length and breadth of Plateau and adhere to zoning representation east the political tension in the state.
But there’s no cause for cheer in the Plateau North where the Former Governor, Senator Joshua Chibe Dariye ensured that minority tribes enjoyed the zoning and were adhered to strictly because, once again,
The zone has been shortchanged by President Muhammadu Buhari where Governor Simon Lalong was from Plateau South and the ministers came from the same zone.
An analysis of the president’s ministerial spread shows that the Plateau North minority tribes should be the only people without a zonal representation in the ministerial appointments since the return of democracy in 1999.
After Lalong resigned, we appealed to President Tinubu to accommodate the other tribes from Plateau North in his cabinet to satisfy the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which made it mandatory that each of the zones in the States must have a minister participation.
Now, after failure to comply with the constitutional provision democratic tenet, Tinubu should appoint a minority tribe for ministerial slots because appointing someone from the same zone as the Governor zone or the same Plateau South doesn’t encourage the principle of building confidence in the present government.
That is where the zonal allocation of ministers comes in, Obasanjo and Yar’Adua appointment balance but Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari jettisoned the formula of fear hearing to appoint Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe, Berom, throughout Jang reign and Muhammadu Buhari also appointed Solomon Selcap Dalung and Mrs. Pauline Tallen.
So, by virtue of the discrepancies in the creation of imbalance, all the other zones were already ahead of the Plateau North minority tribes in the constitutionally mandatory allocation of ministers.
Plateau North is the zone with the largest number of ethnic tribes, got the most ministerial slots while one tribe dominated, Berom, Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, Senatorial slot, Reps. The minority tribes were left with nothing to fulfill constitutional rights.
Adah admonished President Tinubu to accommodate the Plateau North owning to the desire to give them a chance to grow politically because they were dominated by Berom.
