Medical Expert in the country has urged State Governor’s to beam their searchlight on the development of Primary Health Cares centres which he maintained are closer to the people.
Dr.Christopher Piwuna,a Consultant,Phychiatrist and senior lecturer University of Jos said Tertiary and Secondary health care would be decongested when State Governor’s accord impetus to the rejuvenation of PHC.
He said the rejuvenation of PHC’s ranging from eqquiping, training of personnels as he explained that State Governors are responsible for the daunting challenges of PHC’s.
The AGM with the theme:, Depression,A Growing Medical Challenges,stating that the most patronised health facilities in the country are Primary Health Cares.
Adding that PHC are the facilities closer to the grass,Dr.Piwuna faulted heads of hospitals ranging from the Chief Medical Director and Chief Medical Advisory for playing politics with people life.
Calling for the probing of the CMD and C-MAC for the slow development onging.
He challenged leaders and head of hospitals at the behest of affairs to build confidence on their subordinate.
Dr.Christopher Piwuna, during s keynote address revealed that more than N300M please were affected by Depression.
“It affects all age and mostly womenfolk”.
He further stated that 24.9% in Nigeria were affected and listed lack of sleep as signs of depression.
“In Nigeria 11.6% risk of suicide while 16.9% received treatment”.some of the signs of depression, according to him, Social functioning,lost of function, Isolation and higher divorce”.

As he recommended that doctors should always show compassion to people with depression

His Highness,Alh.Dr.Shehu Chindo-Yamusa,the Emir of Keffi harps on the need to fight bureaucratic corruption.
Yamusa advised Nigeria Medical Association to develop a regulatory body to forsake the uprising of private clinics and hospitals.
He appealed to doctors to be proactive in assisting their clients.
He called on doctors to respect the right of clients as well to shun ethnocentrism.
The State Chairman of NMA said the AGM is to bring members of the Association close as well enhance active participation and encourage inclusivity among members.
Dr.Bulus Umar said the Association is hell bent on fighting quackery amongst members as he thanked the State Government for the implementation of State Health Insurance Scheme.
Saying the advocacy for enhanced Primary Health Care as the sine qua non for healthcare delivery has been unwavering.
NMA Chairman listed heavy taxation, non-payment of statutory arrears and non-promotion of her members who are due.
“The theme of this year’s AGM is very apt in many ways ,it is a great example of the iceberg phenomenon and constitute a great societal menace as it is multifaceted .
