Rabiu Omaku
Barely 100 days into the life of the current administration, are those that work day and night for the landslide victory of the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 Governorship election moving up and down lobbying for juicy appointment under the new landlord of the Shendam road Government House.
Lobbyists, according to feelers are visiting the biological father of the Chief Executive in his country home of Gudi for consideration while those that served under the erstwhile governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura are still paying allegiance to the ex-governor.
While another group of the yet to be expected cabinet members especially members of AA. Sule campaign Council are assured of getting what belongs to them as there is a strong indication the Governor may consider some of them based on their impeccable credentials and commitment.
AWE
Jameel Zakari is the immediate past Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Tourism under governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura which was an extension of Al-makura’s administration, if merit matters the likes of Hon. Jameel is the best material to fill in the vacuum.
Jameel Zakri is the former Public Relations Officer and Deputy Registrar, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, before his appointment by the then Chief Executive of the State. Also the likes of Hon. Muhammed Sarki Tanko AKA Danmajen Azara has shown interest for the position, Tanko was a former think-tank of the PDP before his defection to be the ruling All Progressives Congress after his suspension from the party for anti-party activities, an allegation Danmajen Azara refuted.
He contested for the State Chairmanship seat of the PDP with the present Chairman, Hon. Francis Orogu
and lost gallantly because Orogu was given overwhelming support by PDP lawmakers, he also played a vital role during the campaign of the current Governor.
AKWANGA
The likes of Hon. Peter Mbucho, the immediate past Member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, a third-time member representing Akwanga East under the auspices of the People’s Democratic party.
There was controversy over the move by Hon. Kasim Mohammed Kasim to be nominated for Commissionership representing the people of Akwanga Local Government as feelers from Akwanga said the one time member lost grip of his Constituency due to his attitude for disrespecting the palace and the immediate past Deputy Governor, these are some of the factors that made him lose his second term bid, this was confided by an APC stakeholder who pleaded anonymity.
DOMA
The likes of Hon. Musa Ibrahim is fit for the job,
Musa from Doma South is a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party that contested against Hon. Anthony Obande and won but was denied the mandate during the reign of Aliyu Akwe Doma due to clash of interest between the former first lady, Hajiya Raliya Akwe and the elder son to late Governor. Doma, Umaru Aliyu Akwe, who was the Governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party in 2019 election.
Musa has worked seriously for the success of the party even when he contested and lost to his opponent, Hon. James Dangana Akoza a one-time member House of Assembly who was displaced by Hon.John Osewu of the PDP.
Others are looking at the chances of politicians from Ekye as it was rightly called to produce the next Commissioner considering that the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe held from Doma North Constituency, for this reason, the slot of commissionership move to Ekye.
Political analysts are of the view that given the chance to Ekye, to be precise, Musa Ibrahim is like preparing a fertile ground for APC come 2023 election which is now the home of PDP.
The likes of a civil servant working with the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Ibrahim Adih from Doma town who is about retiring from service by mid next year may also be considered for the exalted seat.
Some politicians described Adih as an easy-going fellow,trust-worthy who was given a task by the State Deputy Governor to accomplish which he did it perfectly, reliably source revealed that the Deputy Governor may single-handedly handpick him for the herculean task.
Other politicians waiting by the balcony are the likes of former Chairman and Commissioner, Hon. Mustapha Yahaya Idris, Hon. Danlami Umar popularly called “Moda” also deserved consideration
KEFFI
The race is between the then Member Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Usman Boss, a two-time member representing Keffi, no doubt Usman Ibrahim is a principled politician to the core.
He is outspoken and simple, it was gathered that the influence of ex-governor Al-Makura is hell-bent to ensure that Hon.Engr.Mohammed Yahaya Wada returns as a cabinet member considering his pedigree, impeccable credential, and experience as an Engineer, the loophole of the pioneer Commissioner for Works was that he does not have the spirit of welfare, according to his kinsmen and his supporters.
Available information gathered revealed that Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a two-time Governor of the State and a two-time member of the National Assembly and APC Governorship candidate, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada is waiting keenly to present their supporters for the slot of Commissionership.
KOKONA
It was learned that the Governor is considering confirming a member of his campaign council,a retired Permanent Secretary and currently Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, John Waje Mamman, John was foisted to retired by then governor,Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in other to compensate him with the vacant stool of Abaga Toni, a promised that was not feasible.
Mamman worked day and night to ensure that the ruling party succeeded in Kokona Local Government.
Again, Engr. Sule is having the alternative to retain John Mamman as S.A and he would consider Engr. Lawrence Ada’a Dari, the immediate past Senior Special Assistant on Community and Rural Development to represent Kokona Local Government.
Also, there is the possibility of considering a female politician, a member of the Nasarawa State Assembly Commission, Hon. Florence Ayih, elder sister to the Abaga Toni.
NASARAWA
Hajara Danyaro, a former female Special Adviser to Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura is also a good product considering her wealth of experience in Nasarawa political space and an advocate of Senator. Al-Makura.
Fragment of supporters of the ruling party also has an alternative if the appointment of Danyaro did not go down well should not hesitate to swap Hajara with the former Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, Barrister. Ayuba Wandai whom some politicians from Nasarawa described him as a committed fellow.
Onlookers are of the view that for the sake of balancing and fair consideration for women, Danyaro deserves the exalted seat.
WAMBA
Engr. Abdullahi Alhaji Sule may appoint the likes of Hon.Makpa Malla, a one-time member representing Wamba constituency, is another member, Nasarawa State House of Assembly who passed through serious huddle’s in his four at the Assembly.
Abdullahi among other members were suspended for over 6 months and were recalled back, the last straw that broke the camel’s back was his defection to the All Progressive Grand Alliance to contest for the seat of Member Federal House of Representatives, representing Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, Wamba Federal constituency which he again defected to the APC few days to 2019 general election.
Malla worked for the success of the party few days he jumped ship, APC Chieftain from Wamba is of the view that the appointment of Makpa Malla would add value to the Government.
NASARAWA EGGON
It was reliably gathered that the State Governor, Engr.Abdullahi Alhaji.Sule.may consider the likes of Dr.Muhammed Ya’u a politician cum lecturer with the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, A Fulani man, it could be recalled that the election of Dr.Ya’u as member Federal House of Representatives, representing Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, Wamba was resisted by Eggon speaking people describing Ya’u as an alien. other humble politicians in Nasarawa Eggon are Hon. Mary Emwogulu, the immediate past Commissioner, Women Affairs.
.
TOTO LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The party is strategizing to pick the immediate past member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Saidu Galadima.
OBI
With the assurance of the State Governor, Engr.Abdullahi Alhaji. Sule to accord topmost priority to the appointment of members of his campaign council, if the promised he made is anything to go by then, the nomination of Adokwe Ladan as cabinet member would be at the right footing.
Ladan deserves to be a representative of Obi Local Government in the present administration while considering his level of commitment.Adokwe Ladan is among the think-tank of the ruling APC.
Party stakeholders believe that the slot of Commissionership should be given to people outside Obi town looking at the composition of key positions like the Local Government Chairman coming from Obi town, Member House of Assembly though PDP member.
Some onlookers are of the view that either a Migili, anyone amongst David Ayile or Jikaba or TIV man or the immediate past member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Keke representing Obi 1 should be compensated for losing his seat while the party structure, that is the State Executive of the APC are lobbying the Chief Executive, Engr. Sule to re-appoint the former Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Wuduyamba Agidi into the SEC, as they said his last assignment as a Commissioner lasted for only six months.
KARU
Some persons lobbying for the Commissionership seat from Karu Local Government also include the immediate past member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Gurku representing Karu/Gurku constituency
KEANA
The likes of former member Federal Character Commission and one time Commissioner of Information in the State, Safiyanu Alakayi is fit to represent Keana Local Government at the State Executive Council,it seems the chances of Alakayi maybe bleak as the ex-governor Al-Makura is considering the likes of the immediate past Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Haruna Osegba reason being that if re-appointed he would cover some lapses committed by the former administration in which Osegba served as Commissioner.
LAFIA
Impeccable sources revealed that the present State Secretary of the party, Aliyu Bello was top on the list for commissionership slot going by his keen contribution to the development of the party.
The State Secretary of the party is outspoken, friendly and courageous to defend the party at all times, not like the State party Chairman, Philip Tatari Shekwor who is not use to picking calls and responding to text messages, said a party loyalist who pleaded anonymity.
Also, feelers are of the view that Bello the State party Secretary deserves a federal appointment to pave way for others to grow and if that alternative is feasible then Engr. Sule should consider a vibrant Public servant, Murtala Adogi, the brain behind Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES), the consideration of Adogi as a cabinet member in the yet to be announced Commissionership slot would be the beginning of good things to come considering his wealth of experience in public life.
Some APC members are resisting any attempt to consider Hon.Adamu Mua’zu as a Commissioner as they said the appointment of Adamu Mua’zu would be recycling of position.
Fresh fact from the State capital has emerged that Tancy, Tanimu Sarki Al-Makura a cousin to the former governor may have his way as the representative of Lafia Local Government at the State Executive Council, also another personality is a former Interim Management Committee Chairman, Yahuza Idris Mairafi.
