Lawmaker Drags INEC To Court Over Attempt To Relocate Collation Centre In Bauchi By Masoyi Lusa, Bauchi

A federal Lawmakre in Bauchi, representing Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa-balewa federal constituency has finally dragged the independent National Electoral commission (INEC) to court
This followed allege mixed reaction and attempt by the commission to relocate its collation centre from Tafawa-Balewa town to Dajin which is a remote area
The special assistant to the law-maker Mr. Dauda Dada  told newsmen that the decision is to ensure solid political and corporate existence of Nigeria and finally to protect democracy from being plundered by the Commission.
He said the federal high court division eight in Abuja has given an order restraining INEC and their privy for relocating the collation centre which is Tafawa-Balewa to any village or any town
According to him, the idea of dragging the commission to court become imperative following the desperation of quark politician who are attempting to cause violence during the election saying any attempt to ignore the court order may be tantamount to bridge of laws
Dada stress that the court has fix Monday 23rd for the commencement of the case explaining that the prayers of the reps member is to ensure status quo is maintain pending court determination before and after the March election
It could be recalled that recently the INEC office in Bauchi through its public affairs officer Aliyu Abubakar  debunk any attempt to relocate the collation from Tafawa-Balewa to any place saying the commission office is only operating temporary in Bununu on security advice and has no legitimate authority to transfer or relocate its institution
Aliyu told newsmen that INEC is yet to take decision as to where the collation is  situated as for now saying it has submitted to its Headquarters the view of stakeholders in the areas over their decision of same matter yet have not receive reply wondering why the court action over the matter
“INEC Bauchi office is not aware of the court order restraining it from any attempt to relocate collation centre from Tafawa-balewa town to Dajin as we are still waiting reply from Abuja consonant to stakeholders decision in the area and the commission has the right to choice for itself the centre where it deem fit” said Aliyu
It’s learnt that there is a looming danger especially in the federal constituency over the issue of purported  transfer of collation centre to Dajin a remote area  allegedly by agents of government and youths had promise to disrupt the election if  INEC insists to relocate the collation centre from Tafawa-Balewa
