The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos ,Prof.Ishaya Audu and community paid last respect to the late Prof. Janet Diket Plang, wife of the Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District the prayer session was held at the Senate chamber on Wednesday 22nd July, 2025 .
The colleagues mourned the late Prof. Janet Diket Plang before her demise she was a lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Jos.
She died at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital where she was receiving treatment for an ailment.
They university community described, the deceased as a hardworking, industrious and committed mother, teacher, mentor and backbone to support to her husband and children.
The death of the late Professor is a devastating development to university, Senator Diket as she was not only a reliable partner, but a confidant in his political journey where he served as Local Government Chairman, Member Plateau State House of Assembly, Commissioner and now Senator.
Also a prayer was held at government chapel for God to grant her soul eternal rest and comfort the Senator and the entire family .
Her classmates set 1987 Gindiri Old Students association ,GOSA , paid a condolence respect to the to late Prof. Janet Diket Plang, saying they started their academic pursuit in 1982 were they described her humiliaty ,caring ,loving and down to earth life style .
The church prayers met on ground the elders’ statesman,clergymen ,former President of COCIN ,Prof.Yamsat Pandang and former politician with a lot tributes pouring on the life and time Late Prof Janet
While commiserating with the bereaved family, Governor Mutfwang described the late Professor as a distinguished academic and a woman of great virtue whose death is deeply painful and difficult to comprehend. “We may not fully understand why this has happened, but we trust in God who knows the end from the beginning.
She was a good woman who touched many lives positively. We thank God that her life was impactful and not in vain,”
The congregation members of COCIN Yan-Trailer offered prayers for Senator Diket Plang, his children, and the entire family, asking God to grant them strength and comfort during this trying time
. “Though this is indeed a dark moment, God remains our source of hope and consolation,” . On behalf of his family, the government, and the good people of Plateau State, Governor they university of Jos community ,Church and politicians extended their heartfelt condolence to Senator Plang, his family, and the entire community.
They urged him to take solace in the enduring legacy of Prof. Janet Diket Plang, a woman whose life was marked by humility, service, and compassion. In his response, Senator Diket Plang expressed gratitude to God .
They described the late Prof.MrsDiket Plang v as a pillar of strength, a God-fearing, humble, and compassionate woman who stood by her husband at all times.
Senator Diket Plang representing Plateau Central described his wife “My wife was my rock, gentle, supportive, and deeply devoted. Though she is no longer with us, I am consoled that she is now at rest with the Lord.
We remain grateful to God for the gift of her life,” he said. Senator Plang also commended Governor Mutfwang for the administration’s efforts in expanding the rural road network across Plateau State and particularly for connecting his village to this infrastructure.
There, the former COCIN Prof. Pandang Yamsat offered further words of encouragement, urging the family to continue to find strength in God.
He expressed appreciation as he personally identifying with the family in their moment of loss. He noted that God words shall bring great comfort and reassurance to the living .
Saying it is right time for her to go home because our faith shall be strengthened as we all wait for our death (John 11:23)
The gave testimonies of her Christian faith of commitment and humble believed .She is very considerate and has a listening ears and her husband shower her with love .
If money can buy life ,Diket Plang would have use money to purchase her a new life but God knows why he allow death to snatch .
The uncle said ,the family imbibe the spirit of discipline and humility and late Prof Janet Diket was in 2004 President of GOSA .
