The kidnappers of the Former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ex-Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, and Governorship aspirant for 2015 in Plateau state under the platform of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Comrade Dr. Kemi Nshe has demanded N100million ransom which that was later reduced to N50million” from members of his family through the phone number of the son.
This Medium gathered that the kidnappers went berserk, attacking the area shooting sporadically on-air before gaining access to the residence early hours of New Year’s Day.
According to the close associate of Nshe’s who confirmed the incident in Shendam, expressed fear that they’re now leaving under tension since the abduction of the former council boss as the kidnappers arrived in a brought daylight without them being challenged.
He called on Nigerian, “Please join us in praying for the release of Dr. Kemi Nshe who was forcefully kidnapped from his Shendam residence in the early hours of Saturday being the New Year’s Day, January 1, 2022. It was in the night that the gunmen came to his house and whisked him away. They did not go with his phone.
“The incident is rather unfortunate. We don’t know where they have taken him to. But yesterday evening (Saturday), I learned that the kidnappers called the family members through the phone number of the son and demanded N100million ransom which they later reduced to N50million”
“Where will they get that kind of money when people are just suffering everywhere? It baffles me why the Federal Government through the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy would make Nigerians go through hard experiences by subjecting them to SIM card registration and yet, this kind of thing would be happening without the perpetrators being apprehended” he lamented.
“What is the relevance of that registration exercise? Where are we going in this country in this kind of situation? We pray that the former council chairman is released safely because he has done nothing to warrant his abduction.”
The abduction comes barely 24 hours after the kidnap and release of the traditional ruler in the neighbouring central zone of the state, Chief Charles Mato Dakat the Sum Pyem of Gindiri after five days in captivity, and a ransom demanded of N500 million was made, but no confirmed report to this effect on whether it was paid or not.
Details coming soon as an official statement from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) is yet to be released to this effect.
