The Jigawa state Steering Committee for the Annual State Tree Planting Campaign of the Nigerian Aid Group of Islam, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Jigawa State chapter will launch its twenty-ninth (29th) tree planting campaign, to supplement the Jigawa Government’s efforts on forestation and enlighten the people to understand the significances of trees to the human life as well as animals, and also to beautify the environment and other creature living on the planet
This was pronounceD by Malam Ahmed Babangida the secretary of Jamaatul Nasaril Islam JNI explained further that in the Religious aspect of the work for greater attainment of everlasting charity rewards, last for decades and centuries, trees and other plants reduce heat, high temperature, bad weather effects. it purifies water, sensitizes breath, decreases desert encroachment and global warming,
According to the Islamic cleric, the value of tree it provides foods, energy, medicine and fertilizes to farmland, beautified environment, improve sound living condition as well as job creation, it gives raw materials to industries and hundreds of thousands of benefits.
The secretary explained further that this year program targeted to plant three hundred thousand (300,000) seedlings and are expected to be planted and take care of adding that currently in about one Hundred Thousand (100,000) young plants were made available by Jigawa State Government for the launching activities.
Investigation gathered by our reporter in Dutse found out that if this (300,000) trees planted the number of planted trees by the JNI the total number of trees planted would increase to One Million, Six Hundred and Twenty Three Thousand (1,623,000)
In this regard, numerous activities designed for encouraging people to understand the importance of tree planting include; stakeholder’s seminar, round table discussions, Islamic public lectures, special at Juma’at Khubat (Sermon) in all State Juma’at Mosques, media programs, launching of the activities at State, and local government
The secretary explained that among the activities of the JNI include production and distribution of posters, car stickers, almanac as well as the presentation of merit awards to those who exceptionally contributed to the success the exercise, preparing and releasing of communiqué of the round table discussion are among activities intend to perform In future.
Historically, the exercise was started in Maigatari in the year 1992, performed again in 1993 in Jahun, Hadejia in 1994, and launching of the activity continued in rotations between the emirate and local government areas, were in the year 2013 launched in Ringim, in 2017 Buji Local Government, 2018 held in Kazaure. while this year, the launching activities are to hold in Kaugama Local Government Area of the state which is now scheduled to take place this coming Friday and Saturday 29th- 30th Muharram,1442 (18th – 19th September 2020)
