sultan sokoto_7_510x350As always, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) under the leadership of His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, received with pains and shock the serial and wicked killings at various places of worship, Tafsir and Iftar sessions in Maiduguri, Yobe and most recently Jos. The barbaric attacks are utterly condemnable in the strongest terms. The sad aspect of the attacks is that they are perpetrated in the revered month of Ramadan. It is hardly believable that such dastardly acts could occur now, considering several frantic efforts taken in curbing the menace by the Federal Government, thus the JNI is seriously perturbed.

For the avoidance of doubts, these repeated acts are evil, ungodly and of course have no bases in Islam. And those perpetrating them are criminals, thus they must be fished out and punished accordingly. As for the Maiduguri attack, may we ask why were the attackers not prevented or arrested despite the several distress calls said to have been put up to the appropriate authorities in Maiduguri?

While commending the Federal Government’s efforts in curbing the menace, vis-a-vis its prompt interventions, we implore it to do a thorough forensic finding and/or investigations on the way the recent attacks have been launched serially unabated, on innocent citizens. Meanwhile, we commiserate with the Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Plateau and Zamfara State Governments and the respective families of the affected victims of the evil acts and equally condole with them. We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the deceaseds’ eternal bliss and those that sustained injuries quick recovery, Amin. On the other hand, we implore all relevant stakeholders to be proactive in addressing the scourge.

We nonetheless urge Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for the Ummah against all manners of terrorist acts, particularly special prayers (Al-Qunuut) be offered for the affected states, in fact the entire North-East and the nation at large. We must remain steadfast and must not be deterred or cowed from attending our respective places of worship.

Finally, as the sacred month of Ramadan comes to an end, we call on all Muslims to increase praying fervently for the restoration of peace and security in Nigeria bearing in mind that without Nigeria there will be no Nigerians!

Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu

Secretary-General, JNI
