Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has approved the adoption of Procurement Cadre into the State Civil Service.
This was disclosed by the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila while declaring open a 3 Day Sensitization Workshop on revised Jigawa State Procurement Law and Guidelines for Procurement officers which held at state Secretariat in Dutse.
“I am glad to notify the participants that Jigawa State Government has attached great importance to prudence and value for money which have now become the watchwords of the Public Service in the State” He declared.
He said training and retraining of public Servants will definitely enhance productivity in managing the affairs of the State.
The Head of Service said “Your participation and active contribution is therefore of paramount importance. On these, we, thank the management and staff of the Jigawa State Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau for their effort in making this workshop reality”.
Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila explained further that the workshop is designed to develop the capacity for procurement officers deployed to various MDAs, entrench professionalism and ensure that public procurement decisions by procurement officers are in line with the revised Jigawa State Procurement Law and Guidelines.
Earlier in his contribution to the Director-General of the Jigawa state Due Process and Projects Monitoring Bureau, Alhaji Ado Hussaini said Jigawa State is among the very few states in the Federation that has revised the Procurement Law in Line with UNCITRAL model, Procurement Cadre created and Governing Council of the Bureau inaugurated.
He said the objective of the workshop is to improve the knowledge of the participants on the provision of the revised Law no 13 of 2019, guidelines and procurement manual, thereby enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of the system.
The Director-General commended the Jigawa SLOGOR for sponsoring the workshop and all other invited guests who grace the occasion.
In his remarks, the Project Coordinator, State, and Local Government Reform Project (SLOGOR) Engineer Abba Hassan said the project is funded by European Union (EU) but implemented and managed by the World Bank.in the state.
He explained that it is one of the reform projects in Nigeria and its project development objective is to improve quality, transparency, and accountability in Public Financial Management of the participating States.
He listed the participating States as Osun, Anambra, and Cross River in the South, others include Jigawa, Kano, and Yobe in the Northern part of Nigeria.
