As part making more unity and progress in the transportation sector in Imo State,the Commissioner for Transport,Hon.Prince Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu,on Thursday March 21st 2019 in a critical stakeholders meeting with some cross section transport contractors have collectively agreed to sell yearly emblem to commuters operating in the state at the rate of N7,500 and N6,000 to the users of Taxi’s and Buses,respectively.
The deliberation (stakeholders meeting) which lasted over 3 (three) hours attracted so many leaders from the transportation sectors in the state includes:”the Imo Commissioner for transport,the PRO of the Nigerian Legion Imo State Chapter,Chairman of Imo Emblem,Chief Chika,the Directorate Office Students Union Government,SUG,of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri,and other members of the Imo Transport Sectors”.
At the meeting,the stakeholders present therefore resolved to have consolidated emblem and disclosed the location agents were the road users jointly accepted the emblem to be N7,000 and N6,500.
They however agreed to put to a stop the incessant molestation and unlawful beating of drivers in the state.
The Imo Commissioner for Transport,Prince Lasbrey OkaforAnyanwu,in a swift media interacting with journalists shortly after the crucial meeting,expressed satisfaction at the successes recorded so far in the state via the transportation system and gave 7 ( seven) days to ultimatum for vehicle users to purchase their emblem from the government approved agencies.
“We have set up Internal Taskforce in the state. We are ensuring that a uniform price sells of the emblem”,the Commissioner revealed.
Prince OkaforAnyanwu said ” the biometric can be renewed and not on yearly. The biometric is very strong. We must protect Imo drivers”.
The Commissioner moreso said ” emblem defaulters in the state shall pay twice of the original sum due to their inability to purchase the emblem”.
