The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State Chapter ably led by the State Chairman, Hon.Comr. Sam Udeh, (Ezeumuokorobia) in collaboration with the Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon.Eric Uwakwe, last Thursday, 28th Jan.2022, settled the lingering hike in transportation fare to and fro the university.
The movement was following to the official complaints tendered to the Imo State Government through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Eric Uwakwe by the Congress of Alliance Presidents in the Student Alliances of Imo State University about the hike in price of transportation to and fro the University.
The Imo NURTW State Chairman, Udeh, with the SA in to their swift action held a strategic meeting with the Alliance Presidents, Student Leaders, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers and the pioneer members of NURTW within the University axis to discuss critically the rationale behind the price hike in transportation and how best to resolve these issues amicably.
Addressing the student’s transport sector, Comr.Udeh, who engaged the entire team (student’s transport scheme) during a field tour.
Udeh while speaking, mandated the leadership of the varsity’s transport scheme to jettison the price hike and endeavour to maintain the standard rate of transportation within the alliances and the tertiary institutions in Imo State.
