IGP Visits PSC Chairman

The Inspector General of Police, Ag.IGP Ibrahim Idris NPM, mni on July 14, 2016, paid courtesy visit on the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr. (Sir) Mike Okiro, IGP (Rtd) in his office in Abuja.

IGP Idris said during the visit that he came with his management team to solicit the support of the PSC Chairman and his team in view of the critical oversight role the Commission plays on the Nigeria Police.

The Police boss noted that the Nigeria Police Force cannot move forward without the Police Service Commission and called for synergy which he said will give the management team the impetus to reposition the Police in the interest of the Nation.

He pledged to cooperate with PSC in the areas that are their constitutional responsibility and promised to strengthen the operational capacity of the Force and inculcate good morals and values in the conduct of police personnel to enhance the integrity of the Force.

Responding, the Chairman Police Service Commission congratulated the new IGP on his appointment and promised to cooperate and partner with him to enable him succeed.

He thanked IGP Idris for finding time in spite of his crowded schedule to pay him the visit and assured him of open doors to receive any request, advice or correspondence from his office which he said shall be treated expeditiously.

PSC Chairman regretted that most Junior Police Officers do not know much about the roles and functions of the Police service Commission and called on the IGP to include the PSC Act 2001 in the curriculum of the Police Training Schools.

Present during the Visit were members of the Force management team and PSC Commissioners including the Acting Secretary of the Commission Prince Emmanuel Ibe.
