How Infighting Between Finance Commissioner, Former Governor Forces Gov Sule To Suspend N-CARES Programme

The dice is now cast as Nasarawa state governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule finally suspended the Nasarawa COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) Programme.

The suspension may not be unconnected to the fierce battle between the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and another think-tank of governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, that is the likes of the state commissioner of finance and economic development, Hon Daniel Agbole, the coordinator of N-CARES, Umar Dahiru.

Other stakeholders that joined the fight are fragments of the staff, it was however opined that the infight consumed a female and staunch member of the committee from service.

The crisis of the steering committee was the inability of the committee to work with one voice, other issues was the inability of the state government to pay 61 persons of their salaries for a period of over one year under the Community Social Development Agency (CSDA).

Universal Reporters can authoritatively reveal that N-CARES has touched the lives of the people ranging from N-CARES Fadama which supported women with empowerment, while another group of 10 benefits from threshing, fryers, grinding machines while others benefited from the N5000 monthly cash transfer.

N-CARES, it was gathered has provided 32 motorized and solar boreholes to 17 communities in the state while under its intervention in the health sector, the agency built and renovated clinics with six-bed space including one-bed labour room in primary health care in Wuse community of Awe local government

N-CARES also committed resources by providing potable drinking water in Agyaragu market, and Kwangwa, all in Obi local government, there was the building and renovation of classrooms as well as the provisions of chairs and the building of toilets to halve open defecation.

While in the area of agriculture, over 2000 farmers benefited from Improved varieties of seedlings ranging from rice, maize, cassava, insecticide and fertilizer.
