The Chairman Inter Party Advisory Council ( IPAC) , Plateau State Chapter, Hon. Abubakar Dogara admonished political parties not to mortgage the future of citizens of the state but they should continue to promote the tenets of democracy for the betterment of all a sundry.
He made this disclosure during stakeholders’ meetings held with ten Political Parties that attended the event in Jos.
According to him, the following were in attendance which include, SDP, LABOUR PARTY, APGA, APM, ADP, ACCORD PARTY, APP, BOOT PARTY, PRP, and the AAC were the parties find a turn on the way forward for a better Nigeria.
Adding that, three Parties that sent their apologies for not coming are NRM, ZLP and the AA Parties. ADC is yet to forward the name of the party’s representative to IPAC in the state.
Hon Dogara called on the IPAC members to encourage their candidates on issue-based campaigns, warning political parties in the state against any attempt to mortgage their parties, candidates and followers in the forthcoming elections.
He said that “IPAC threatened to expose any party that engages in such activities which will not promote party ideology in Plateau state in 2023 because it will no longer be business as usual”
Hon. Dogara explained that the Labour Party Chairperson was applauded for supplying refreshments during the stakeholders’ meeting and APC, PDP was absent in the meeting.
The independence Day IPAC meeting in Plateau state resolves issues as follows:
The office of the State Secretary of IPAC was declared vacant the office of the former IPAC secretary the state chairman of the NNPP who left the party on personal grounds.
The IPAC state assistant Secretary who doubles as the State Chairman of the AAC was assigned to oversee the Secretary’s office pending the elections of a new state secretary.
The office of the State Deputy chairman was also declared vacant. The former occupant was the state chairman of the YPP who decamped to another party.
The State Deputy chairman of the NNPP was nominated as the acting state Deputy chairman of IPAC pending proper elections.
The State Chairman was mandated by the council to formally inform the National Headquarters of IPAC about the existence of two vacant offices in the Plateau state IPAC executive committee for further action. vix; Office of the State Secretary, Office of the State Deputy Chairman.
Other issues discussed were the IPAC Office rent, and visitation to Media Houses in the state. Campaign Time Table as requested by the state commissioner of police for proper planning.
