Northern CAN Chairman Rev Yakubu Pam has challenged elected Governors in the 19 states of Northern Nigeria to hit the ground running in their respective states to bring development down to the door steps of the people of their states.
Rev Pam in a statement issued in Jos at the weekend to newsmen and a copy made available to this medium , said all the states in the North were in dare need of development that will touch the lives of the people, stressing that with the right government policies that addresses the needs of the people, the current crisis in some states of the North will come to an end .
The Northern CAN Leader, added that each of Governors in the north, must as a matter of seriousness take the issue of security of lives and properties of the people of their states as a number one priority to avoid the ugly incidences of the recent past where many lives and properties of the people were lost to attacks and killings of the people by merchants of death masquerading all over the villages and communities of the North under whatever guise.
Rev Pam tasked the Governors and the elected state legislators in the states to ensure they work in synergy to make pro- people laws and execute projects that have bearings on the lives of both the urban and rural dwellers in the Northern region and by extension the rest of Nigeria.
He also called on the elected representatives of the people to see themselves as servants of the people that voted them into power in the just concluded 2019 general elections and not their Bosses as was the case in the recent past .
Pam advised the elected Governors in the North to be accountable to the people and be prepared to leave legacies that are worthy of emulation at the end of their tenure in 2023.
