Suspected bandits on Tuesday attacked the old National Park Service office in Oloka, Orire LGA of Oyo State.
NAN quoted Teslim Kareem, conservator of the park, as confirming the incident on Wednesday.
According to him, the exact number of casualties has not yet been determined.
“Yes, it is true; we are in the process of evacuating the victims,” Kareem said.
According to NAN source, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., with at least five personnel reportedly killed during the raid.
The report added that the remains of the victims had not yet been retrieved, as they were believed to be within the nearby forest area.
Corroborating the report, Ayanlade Olayinka, Oyo State police public relations officer, said “there was an attack by yet to be identified men against the men of the National Park.”
“Yes, there was an attack by yet to be identified men against the men of the National Park. The Commissioner of Police and other service chiefs are currently on their way to the location,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the CP Femi Haruna has deployed tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officers of the NPF and EOD to the affected area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.”
