Governor Bindow Bars Chief Of Staff From Making Policy Statement

Disturbed by the recent reactions that trailed a statement credited to Alhaji Abdulrahman Abba Jimeta, Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State Governor, Muhammadu Umaru Bindo that the state government has earmarked N 200, 000 000.00 for prayer warriors in the fight against insurgency in the state, it appears the Chief of Staff has been barred from speaking on behalf of the government.

Recall that last week; Adamawa State government has been managing its image in public domain over such statement that generated a lot of tension in the state and nation at large which has caused embarrassment to the government.

Investigation by this medium revealed that most of the government functions of recent are taking place without the dominance of the Chief of Staff as usual.

An impeccable source at the Government House who pleaded anonymity confirmed that the development has caused the government a serious setback in the eyes of the public.

Recall also that Abba Jimeta was Nyako’s Chief of Staff after his name was rejected by the state lawmakers after he was accused to have chided legislatures.

Jimeta who until the recent happenings was seen as “governor -de-facto” was known for making policy statements on behalf of the government.

“Bindow was seriously disturbed by the embarrassment caused by AbdurRahman Jimeta’s declaration, which caused an uneasy situation, so he had decided to ban the Chief of Staff henceforth from making policy statements.

“In facts, the governor is shunning him, because even functions and other official engagements are not being communicated to him, “said an insider.

Sources said that distraught by this development the embattled Chief of Staff too resorted to non active participation in public functions, “he was not even at the airport to receive the governor last Tuesday.

“Though no official communication to that effect, I can authoritatively disclose that the governor rhetorically barred him from making public statements,” a top government official further confirmed.

Reports however indicates that the embattled Chief of Staff, has since begun making move to clip Bindow’s wings as he was said to have held a secret meeting with local government APC party chairmen.

“Yes, it’s true there was a meeting, during which the Chief of Staff prevailed on the chairmen on the need to summon the governor so as to discuss vital issues affecting the party and its leadership.

“But I cannot tell you whether he has asked us to defend him or not, it’s not your concern,” said a party chairman who doesn’t want to be quoted.
