Gombe APC Accuses INEC For Not Complying With Court Order

apcGombe state chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission over non compliance to court order for the release of electoral documents in other to conduct forensic examination and inspection of the documents by the APC.

State acting chairman of the APC, Mr Kalu Ishaya told journalists in an interview that, the INEC has not released electoral for inspection as ordered by the court. He said the  party had received  order from governorship election tribunal holding in the state to conduct forensic examination and inspection of electoral documents to present as evidence during court proceeding of the court suit between governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and the APC’s gubernatorial candidate Alh Inuwa Yahaya.

He said, according to the court order, the inspection exercise was supposed to commence on Monday 5th July  2015, but only to receive an instruction from the INEC stopping them from conducting the inspection. Adding that, the party had already complied with all procedures needed for the inspection as ordered by the tribunal including payment of the sum of N10 million to the INEC for certification of the documents.

“We got the court order to carry out inspection and examination of electoral materials, until yesterday when work was to commence at Akko local government as ordered, only to receive conflicting instruction from the INEC that they would not accept the photocopy machines they asked us to provide, so as it is now the inspection did not take place because counsel to the INEC ordered the electoral officer there not to allow us to carry out the photocopies, and we wonder why this is coming up now after providing everything they asked from us.

He stated the party had already written a letter to the tribunal on the issue, adding that, the party will continue to remain law abiding and was ready to receive with good faith the court filling.

Responding to the accusation, the INEC Public Relations Officer, Alh Muktar Gidado, told our reporter that, the issue was a legal matter and he was not in position to make any comment.
