Four People Killed, Houses Destroyed In Wase , Plateau State By Jukun and Hausa/Fulani Militants

Four people were killed, while over 2000 Houses were destroyed, as cash and food crops of two hundred hectares of Farmland were also destroyed by Jukun and Hausa/Fulani Militants in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. 

As gathered the fresh communal clash in Wase happened last weekend when two Tarok were working in their farm and suddenly some heavily armed Jukun and Hausa/Fulani’s  barricaded the farmland as they started shooting sporadically.

The Kumbur and Jigawa Audu is a settlement suburb which is close to the Wase Rock, which are predominantly Tarok people. Speaking to our reporter in Jos, the Youth leader of the community said,  Lohbut  Jangle decried that the level of damage which is done to their farmland is beyond imagination.

The Youth leader Mr. Lohbut Jangle lamented that the rate of the destruction is very bad, as he said over 2000 houses were burnt down and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

According to Jangle he said one of the victims died few hours after he was brought to Lantang North General Hospital with wounds sustained from gun shots and his remains has been deposited in the Morgue.

Adding further, Jangle said that the people of Kumbur and Jigawa Audu were displaced and the farmland properties destroyed by the militias following their claims over their ancestral home of the Kumbur and Jigawa Audu people.

According to him since the beginning of this farming season all the crops they planted have been uprooted by the insurgents group through the backing of the Waziri Wase who is alleged to have sponsored them militias.
