Former National Assembly Members Said BVAS Will Tackle Rigging

Former members of the National Assembly from Nasarawa State have described the new election technology, BVAS as a solution to election rigging in this year’s general election.

One of the longest-serving members of the National Assembly, Senator Suleiman Adokwe gave the hint during a campaign rally at Akwanga Local Government.

BVAS, a recent technology that will be used for the conduct of this year’s general election is timely, looking at the way and manner the 2019 election was marred by irregularities of all sorts.

Adokwe said the intimidation by members of the current National Assembly to frustrate the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission to abolish the use of the new technology will not work.

He said the PDP succeeded in building the solid fortress the nation is sitting on including the Economic and Financial Crime Commission which was recently used by the ruling All Progressives Congress administration to witch-hunt the opposition.

 “Everybody is aware of the 16 years of the PDP, our legacies are everywhere including the EFCC which they are using to intimidate opposition”.

Suleiman Adokwe opined that Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari is amongst the most backward nation, in fact the country is about to collapse if something urgent is not done to salvage it.

He used the campaign rally to congratulate the Governorship candidate, David Emmanuel Ombugadu on his 45 years anniversary.

Urging the people of the State to go and collect their Permanent Voters Card, he in addition stated that Nasarawa State wants a definite change.

Also speaking, a former member of the federal House of Representatives, representing Nasarawa/Toto, Arc. Muhammed Jafar Ibrahim disclosed that the ruling party is jittery about the new technology.

He however opined that the adoption of BVAS into the political space of Nigeria is to reduce cases of electoral malpractice in the country.

“From my understanding, the All Progressives Congress as a party is afraid of BVAS.

Ahead of the next month’s Presidential election, Arc. Jafar hinted that Atiku Abubakar is the most qualified politician that can take this nation to the promised land.

He said Atiku is a mismatch to the Presidential candidates of APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and others.

Recalled that, the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar stand firm to unite this country when Olusegun Obasanjo was busy traveling on weekly basis.

While a former Deputy Governor under late Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma who contested for a senate seat in the 2019 election, Mike Abdul said he won the senate seat of Nasarawa north senatorial zone with a total of 26,000 votes but was twisted by the APC.

He decried the sharp increase in food prices especially assorted rice which a bag cost N8000 was sold for N37, 000
