Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Plateau state, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has flagged off his campaigns.
This was made known in a press statement by Mr. Clinton Garba, as it reads that Jang was in Jos during the rally, which was held in Shendam Local Government Area of the state, about 17,000 APC members defected to the PDP in solidarity with the party’s governorship candidate.
Mutfwang who called on the people to reject the ruling party in the 2023 election for inflicting pain, hardship, and poverty on the citizens and Nigerians at large promised to wipe away the tears of the people if elected into office.
Former Governor of Plateau state, Jonah Jang who was conspicuously absent during the recent presidential rally of Atiku Abubakar in Jos was, however, present at the Shendam rally to endorse Mutfwang as the party’s governorship candidate.
Our Correspondent reports that Senator Jang did not endorse Atiku at either the Shendam rally or elsewhere, in line with his earlier stand not to campaign for the presidential candidate.
Jang noted that the Plateau people made a mistake in 2015 by voting the ruling APC into power, a development which he says had brought untold hardship and suffering to the people.
Describing Mutfwang as credible and competent, Senator Jang calls on the Plateau citizens to vote for the PDP governorship candidate to enable him to restore hope and deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
Also speaking at the event, Former Nigeria Ambassador to Switzerland, Yahaya Kwande and another former Ambassador to Namibia, Bagudu Hirse both admonished the people to work for the success of the PDP governorship candidate in the next election.
