Farmers /Fulani Clash Is Yet To Be Resolved In Guri–Secretary

The committee established to solve the issue of the communal clash between farmers and Fulani in Guri is yet to resolve the matter, secretary of the council Malam Muhammed Abi disclosed this to our reporter who visited the council last week.

 

He said as it is the situation is even worse than before because now every farmer carries weapons as the Fulanis also carry weapons.

 

He explained further the area is facing serious challenges as there is no peace in their area as farmers and Fulanis herdsmen are fighting against each other.

 

He lamented even now there are so many strange Fulani groups who established their camps and they are beyond control because they carry heavy weapons.

 

In another development, the secretary said every year the council experience series of water flooding within the area and as a result of that, the council created water channels that annually have destroyed farm produce worth millions of naira as well as and houses.

 

He added that in their effort to stop cattle rustling in the area Fulani groups have established voluntary security Union in which sixty people have been screened by police and the council has agreed to give them an allowance of Five thousand naira every month.

 

The council has established five checkpoints to stop strange Fulani persons from visiting the area, as it was gathered that the current crisis is not caused by Fulani’s who reside there.
