The former Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt.Hon.Dr Istisfanus Mwansat has confirmed that Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is joining the All Progressives Congress, APC, with negotiations reaching an advanced stage of lobbying and understanding between the National Chairman and the stakeholders in PDP and APC in Plateau State.

He called on Plateau grassroots supporters to continue to accord the governor, Mutfwang, all the necessary support, as the party (Peoples Democratic Party), PDP, is gradually being hijacked by a desperate group.

Rt Hon, Dr Mwansat made this disclosure in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Jos on Friday at Little Ray field.

He said Governor Mutfwang’s defection to the APC has reached an advanced level that the possibility of his defection might likely happen because there are signs that the arrangement has reached advanced discussion.

Istisfanus Mwansat emphasized that the governor had reached advanced discussions with the stakeholders of the APC for him to decamp, but they have yet to complete the necessary agreement for his movement.

He noted that the implications for the state are known to everyone else as the reason why the Governor is moving not anything practical, but just the issues of the platform, which are the major concern in Nigeria.

According to him, Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s defection is for the benefit of the Plateau citizens to enjoy from the national cake, especially the people of Plateau State, to be part of the federal government meant stream politics.

‘You would recall that Mutfwang was elected under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections after defeating Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda of the APC to clinch the gubernatorial seat of Plateau State with a landslide victory in the poll.’

He said the APC National Chairman had zoned the zoning arrangement to the North-Central geopolitical zone of the country, when the former Governor of Kano, Dr. Ganduje volunteered to step down to pave the way for the APC North-Central to produce the next chairman, when Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, stepped down.

Besides the internal wrangling within the APC chairmanship, they were able to amicably resolve their issues, but the PDP crises continued to escalate from 2023 to the forthcoming 2027 respectively due lack of internal leadership and impunity rocking the affairs of the stakeholders.

He maintained that Mr Governor has a vision and a mission to transform Plateau State, and he took the bold step to ensure that the state is part of the federal government, as he has lampooned some groups of politicians planning to destroy the PDP.

Mwansat stressed that, as they want to knock out the PDP governor, Mutfwang’s defection is to ensure that the State benefits from the National President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s good gesture.

He called on the people of Plateau State to continue to accord him the same support as he plans to join the opposition party.

“The Governor Caleb Mutfwang defection is a decision in the best interest of the state and to place Plateau State in a position of national politics to belong to the national affairs of Nigeria.

He explained further that the wise movement was carefully taken to harness the position of Plateau State in the north-central geopolitical zone as a player in Nigeria.

Mwansat charged the peace-loving people of Plateau State to rally support for the decision of Mr Governor in building a greater state and promoting peaceful coexistence amongst the citizens of Nigeria.

He noted that under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, we are embarking on grassroots mobilization to educate and enlighten our supporters that the defection was done for their benefits to reap from national politics under the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regime.

Mwansat promised that the administration would bring everyone on board in the area of administrative benefits without any discrimination based on party differences.

He challenged the political class that is bent on destroying the PDP to rethink their decision because in politics, there is no permanent friend nor permanent enemy but only permanent interest.
