The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 950 personnel to the 27 Local Government Areas of the State to provide maximum security before, during and after the Eid-el-fitr celebration.
The State Commandant, Mustapha Talba (CC) approved the deployment order through the Head of Operations, Muntaka Hussaini (DCC).
The deployment will cover prayer grounds, recreational centres, motor parks, malls, durbar routes among others. Mobile and Stationed vehicular patrol would be maintained 24 hours to ensure maximum surveillance across the State. Anti-vandal operatives will be stationed at government buildings and installations, as well as various Critical National Assets and Infrastructural facilities across the State to intensify surveillance and provide security.
Furthermore, the Command in conjunction with other security operatives will embark on a joint operation and show of force in order to forestall any form of security breach.
The State Commandant called on the general public to co-operate with his men by reporting any suspicious activity for appropriate action. He also cautioned those that intended to travel for the holidays not to board taxis outside designated motor parks as the Command within the month has recorded cases of passenger strangulations which resulted to the death of a passenger, injury to others, and more than a Million Naira forcefully taken from the victims. According to the Commandant, motor parks were built by the Government not only for revenue generation, but to also provide safety and security for both passengers and the drivers. He also urged members of the public to be security conscious, and enforce safety measures both at home and workplaces before leaving for the holidays.
On behalf of the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, the State Commandant wishes the entire people of the State a happy and joyous Sallah celebrations.
