EFCC Shutdown 32 Shops Over Adulterated Palm Oil In Gombe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) said the commission has shutdown 32 shops over adulterated palm oil in Gombe.

Head of operations of the EFCC Gombe zonal office Mr Michael Welkas made this known in Gombe while parading the suspects before Journalists Friday.

He said out of 32 shops celled 26 suspects were arrested.

According to him, the suspects were arrested due to relevant t information by citizens who drew the attention of the commission that lead to their arrest.

He called on meaning Nigerians not to hesitate to give useful information to the commission in order to prosecute offenders who meant to destroy the country.

The Head of operations while parading the suspects said the adulterated palm oil made by the suspects to consumers may course harm to their body.

He said the commission has investigated the matter and has called on National Agency for Food and Drug administration and Control NAFDAC to carry out the test of the product.

Speaking further, he said their arrest followed a tipoff when some concern citizens raised alarm that lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The representative of the state coordinator of NAFDAC Gombe office Mr. Lara’s Jatau assured that the agency will do everything possible to ensure that the product is tested with a view to issue result to EFCC.
