Nasarawa JUSUN Strike: JSC Reinstates  20 Dismissed Staff, Withdrew From Collecting Check-off Dues For Unions

The 20 dismissed staff of Nasarawa State Judiciary that humiliated the State Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko reinstated by the Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission with stiff conditions are as follows.

PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED AT THE END OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE NASARAWA STATE JUDICIAL SERVICE COMMISSION,ON 16th OCTOBER,2019 AT THE CHIEF JUDGE’S CHAMBER’S,HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE,LAFIA 

The stiff conditions are:

1.That there will be no refund of almost one year salary accruing to these 20 staff and all other staff that had been away from their duty post from November 2018 to October 16th,2019.

2.That the reinstatement of the 20 staff is effective from October 16th,2019.

3.That the affected staff be demoted with a grade level downward to serve as detterence to others.

4.That the Commission had stated before today and it is furthermore reiterating its position of withdrawing all its administrative and technical support to all Unions and Associations in the State Judiciary.in other words,the management of the Judiciary will no longer act as collecting agents of Associations check off dues, Therefore staff are at liberty to pay their check off dues individually.

JSC further reiterated that the Nasarawa State Judiciary cannot condone gross misconduct and will always punish any act of commission or omission that could impugn it’s collective integrity.

Following a meeting of the Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission held on 16th October,2019, Members deliberated on a letter written by High Royal Highness, Hon.Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I JSC Rtd. The letter dated 11th September 2019 conveyed a further appeal of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Engr.Abdullahi A.Sule FNSE, who is aware of the unfortunate cause of the dispute, and noted that the crisis mismanaged by the Union officials ,urged that the lingering crisis in the State Judiciary be brought to an end and that the affected officers whose service were terminated be recalled back only for the sake of industrial peace and Harmony in the State.

The general public will recall that in November 2018 some staff of the State Judiciary who had been issued queries for absenteeism, physically attacking and assaulting the Honorable Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Honorable Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko on November 13th ,2018 and disrupting court activities of High court NO 1,Lafia.

One staff responded to the query and his matter was referred to the Disciplinary Committee for investigation, This staff exculpated himself from allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him and was exonerated.

The three page press statement signed by the Executive scribe of JSC, Hafsat Turaki Sanda, ESQ dated October 17th and issued to Journalists on October 17th read further that the affected 20 staff refused to receive the queries issued and consequently ,they were dismissed with effect from November 23rd 2018,The dismissal according to the statement was pursuant to section 4 030307 (iii) of Nasarawa State Public Service Rules 2017.

As a result of interventions from various stakeholders and his Royal Highness,Hon.

Justice,Sidi Bage Muhammad l JSC Rtd ,The Emir of Lafia,the commission in its regular meeting of June 13th,2019 resolved to and magnanimously reconsider its earlier decision dismissing these staff from service.

Consequently ,the Commission commuted their dismissal from service to termination of employment as a result of their unruly behavior and assault on the personality of the Hon.Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko on November,2018.

However, as a result of further appeal from the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, conveying an appeal of His Excellency, Engr.Sule,the Commission had in its meeting of October 16th ,2019 reluctantly conceded in a unanimous resolution to reinstate the above mentioned staff.

The Chairman of JUSUN, Musa Jimoh did not respond to text message by universsalreportersng.com at precisely 10:35pm and call by 11:11pm respectively.
