The Former Chief Medical Director, CMD, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Dr Nandul Durfa has pledged commitment to the teamwork of development of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State, as he admonished the government for the speedy transformation of rural communities.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with our medium at the Book Launch by Jerry Mantim on the challenges and successes accomplished as co-founder of Langtang South LGA.
Dr Nandul Durfa is a renowned surgeon hailed from Langtang South, trained in Abu, Zaria, Nigeria and the UK. The CMD attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in the Faculty of Medicine from 1970 to 1975, and thereafter proceeded to the University of Edinburgh for postgraduate training in medicine, qualifying in MBBSL, FRCSED in 1982, and FWACS in 1988.
However, the book launch brought together former primary school classmates, as he employed the upcoming generation of Langtang South LGA to imbibe the spirit of dedication to the council’s development.
Dr Durfa charged the politicians to shun politics of division and work together as one family for the interest of the people.
He has served as a house officer at General Hospital Jos, after which he did his National Youth Service (NYSC) at General Hospital Boni Ogoni, River State.
He was appointed as the Executive Secretary, Plateau State Ministry of Health 1999, 1993, now a consultant special Grade 1 department, Special projects FMOH 2007 -2009, and retired that year, and now the managing director.
Dr Durfa challenged the government to give priority to humanity first, especially the plight of rural communities in providing healthcare delivery to cushion the present problem of global health challenges.
He said that the major issues that call for urgent action by the Nigerian government is security of lives and properties of Nigerian to address the issue of bandits and farmers /herders clashes.
Nandul commended the current fight against insurgents under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that Nigeria will bounce back again.
He reiterated the need for federal and state governments to focus more on rebuilding infrastructural development and encourage internal mechanisms that can resolve our differences in religious beliefs and tribal affiliation.
Durfa called on the stakeholders to ensure that the journey of Langtang South LGA should be spread across the length and breadth of the country, particularly in the perennial water problem, and he stressed that the government should introduce measures to end it.
