Public Complaint on the Case of Mr. Tanko Barnabas   A Call for Justice and Compassion .

I write with deep concern and a heavy heart to draw public attention to the case of Mr. Tanko Barnabas, a Nigerian Air Force officer who was court-martialed, dismissed, and sentenced to twelve (12) years in prison in Jos under circumstances that suggest a lack of due process.

It is troubling to note that credible reports indicate Mr. Barnabas was not granted full legal representation or afforded the fair hearing enshrined in both military justice codes and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Even more disturbing is the fact that his current health condition is reported to be deteriorating rapidly behind bars without adequate medical care.

This case is not just about a military man facing punishment it is about justice, fairness, and human dignity.

In a democratic nation governed by the rule of law, it is imperative that no one is denied a fair and transparent trial, regardless of rank or offense.

 The ideals of justice must be upheld not only in principle but also in practice.

We respectfully urge the Nigerian Air Force authorities, the Ministry of Defense, and relevant human rights bodies to urgently revisit the case of Mr. Tanko Barnabas.

Justice must not only be done; it must be seen to be done. We call for a comprehensive review of the proceedings, the circumstances surrounding the conviction, and a compassionate consideration of his ailing health.

In the spirit of fairness, we plead that justice be tempered with mercy.

A re-evaluation of this case is necessary, not only to restore public confidence in the military judicial system but also to preserve the integrity of our armed forces.

We trust that this letter will help amplify the voice of concern and provoke urgent and humane action from the appropriate authorities.
