Appointment Of Dr Maikenti Baru As The GMD Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Meritorious, Well-Deserved
The recent appointment of Dr Maikenti Baru, as the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), can only be described as a reward for ability, boldness, commitment, perseverance and zest for integrity.
This appointment, according to discerning minds, is a worthy amidst the myriad of appointments made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari. Many Nigerians were excited because for once government has spotted a reformer for an agency that urgently needs reforms.
Dr Maikenti Baru , a cool-headed, easy-going, charismatic, sound academic background, profound public administrative skills, disciplined leader and a gentleman per excellence, brings to his new job rich experience in oil and gas sector.
Before his Recent appointment Dr. Baru had worked in various capacities in both the Upstream and Downstream Sectors of NNPC. These includes Group General Manager of Greenfield Refinery Projects, Managing Director of Hyson, Executive Director of Nigerian Gas Company (NGC), General Manager – Gas Division of NAPIMS, Manager – Operations, Procurement Management Services and Manager – Engineering for National Engineering and Technical Company Limited (NETCO) amongst others.
However, I notes with disgust, consternation and disappointment the frivolous and baseless criticisms against this noble and suiting appointment from the quarters and enclaves of misogamists, conservative and enemies of this administration who hate seen a northerner in such a lucrative position.
I therefore, urge all Nigerians and the members of International Community to ignore the rantings of few unprogressive elements against Dr Barau’s appointment but rally round him to move our nation forward and at the same time urge him to remain focused, steadfast, committed, diligent in his new assignment without being distracted by fifth columnists and agents of provocateurs, busy body movement (Niger Delta Indigenous Movement For Radical Change ) with a non – existent address who are opposed to our collective progress as a Nation.
I wish Dr Maikenti Baru good health, wisdom, knowledge and divine understanding in office. I have no doubt on my mind that he will not be found wanting in his new assignment as well, as his ability to use his office to positively impart the lives of all Nigerians.
While appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy of the appointment, I congratulate Dr Maikenti Baru. It is of course an appointment well deserved.
