Al-Makura Cautions Council chairmen/Commissioners On Prudency and Accountability

Al-Makura-E2-80-99sNasarawa state Governor,Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has tasked executive chairmen to ensured the proper utilization of resource accrued to them from the federation account, The Governor stated this while swearing in new crop of commissioners into the state executive council .

He warned council chairmen to avoid bogus spending and high demand from the public , Saying the lean resource accrued to the state from the federation account is nothing to write home about, The Governor attributed the present economic meltdown to the fall in oil price in the International market.

He challenged Local Government chairmen to source for ways to generate their Internally Generated Revenue, He also advised the Local government that with the autonomy given to them and the funds coming to them directly ,They should carefully manage resources at their disposal nothing that they would have no place to run if they could not manage their resource well.

Al-Makura called on aggrieved parties that submitted petitions and complaint against some commissionership nominees to bury their hatchet for the sake of the state, He charged the appointees to be friendly by abiding to due process, accountability and prudent management of tax-payers resource.

Al-Makura called on civil servants at the Local Government level to sympathises with Local Government chairmen  over what he described as insolvency of the third tier of Government, He also called on the people of the state to give maximum support to the newly commissioners and not to buck them down with unnecessary demands particularly at  this hard times.

He also advised the Local government that with the autonomy given to them and the funds coming to them directly, they should carefully manage resources at their disposal nothing that they would have no place to run if they could not manage their resource well.

He said the appointment was to inject tested technocrat into the governance of the state for optimum result, Governor Al-Makura commended  members of the state House of Assembly for a hitch-free screening of commissioners, Adding that the screening of the 16 nominees is a clear evidence of patriotism and selfless service to the state.

Yusuf Shehu Usman-Lafia ,Justice and Attorney General

Eunice Kigbu-Lafia, Women Affairs and Social Development

Aliyu Tijjani- Nasarawa ,Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

Dominic Adagazu Bako-Nasarawa Eggon Finance

Sunny  Makama Agaasi-Obi Land and Survey

Aka’aka Ortom Gabriel -Obi Environment
