Adamawa State Government Commissioned New Dining Halls In GMMC By Tom Garba, Yola
Adamawa state government has expressed renewed commitment and determination to prioritize education sector that can produce competitive indigenes of the state In the entire world.
Governor Bala James Nggilari said this Monday on a commissioning of two dining halls at the General Murtala Mohammed College Yola, reconstructed by PZ Cussons Foundation.
The Governor represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff Government House Yola, Professor George Moses noted with delight the contributions of PZ Cussons foundation, saying the company has played its part of giving back to its host community.
He said government cannot be left behind in supporting projects that will improve the standard of education in view of its role in the socio economic development of the nation.
The governor warned staff and students against vandalization of the edifice so as to avoid extra spending on the same project.
State Commissioner of Education, Professor Ambrose Voh said the ministry is proud to identify with the aspirations of PZ Cussons foundation.
He called on other corporate organizations and individuals to emulate PZ.
Mallam Sa’idu Babikoi who spoke on behalf of the Tiddo Yo Daddo Alumni Association gave kudos to Governor Nggilari’s administration for supporting education through Safe Schools Initiative Programme as well as providing instructional materials.
Member, Board of Trustees, PZ Cussons Foundation, Mallam Dahiru Muhammed said the project was sponsored and executed by PZ Cussons Foundation as part of its corporate social responsibility in giving back to the society.
He said the foundation considered this appropriate to rehabilitate the structures in order to improve the students welfare and make the school atmosphere more conducive for learning.
Mallam Dahiru noted that the foundation has four chosen areas of intervention, which include education, portable water supply, health and road rehabilitation.
He urged students and staff to keep the structures in the best possible form so that generations of students yet unborn will use it in turn.
