Worried over the acute shortage of hostel accommodation and the high cost of House rent, the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa state chapter has appealed to the vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lafia, Professor Muhammed Sanusi Liman to beam his searchlight on the linking of the abandoned hostel project with a bridge.
The national vice President zone D, Chief Wilson Bako stated this when the Correspondents’ Chapel paid the Vice Chancellor a familiarization visit, he said constructing a bridge across would assist in the provision of accommodation to over 200 students.
Students are at cross road with accommodations hike to N70, 000 and above, calling on the management of the institution to as matter of urgency to take bold steps to construct a bridge across the hostel.
Bako tasked the VC to give quality education to its students.
The vice chancellor of the institutions said arrangement is on the pipeline to occupy the abandoned hostel, stating that students are expected to move to the hostel in the next 2 weeks.
“We have already fumigated the entire hostel, in few weeks’ time we will provide electricity supply from 7:00am to 12:50pm; he also said the University would provide temporary football pitch, water to students.
“We are expecting that 1000 male students with 1000 female students would be accommodated in the new hostel.
“We are currently embarking on the building of a new lectures hall through direct labour
The chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Suleiman Abubakar said the Chapel’s visit was to introduce the current executive whom assumed office following the conduct of free, fair and transparent election held on 5th/10/2016 as well other members.
He commended the new management of the University for embarking on massive structures under the headship of Professor, Muhammed Sanusi Liman
