Absence Of Gov. Badaru At Babankowa’s Death Condolence Generates Controversy

Muhammad-Abubakar-BadaruBarely one week after the demise of one of the gallant policemen Kano ever produced, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Babankowa, Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has not in person or send government delegation to condole the family of the late patriot Citizen of the state.

Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Babankowa a famous former police commissioner in the old Gongola State who found the dead bodies of late pre minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Okotie-Eboh’s.

The late deceased was until his death the Wali of Ringim. He died at the age of 74 after a protracted illness at the Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and was buried in his hometown Ringim amid tears and sorrow from his family members, close associates and the general public.

A visit to the late Babankowa family residence situated at Tokarawa village along Hadejia road few kilometers away from the ancient city of Kano has indicated that hundreds of sympathizers are mourning the death sharing sorrow with the families of the deceased.

Our correspondent has reliably heard from some of the family members expressing their annoyance for the absence of the state governor Muhamamd Badaru who happens to come from same emirate and been the state chief executive, saying “the governor did not come in person, nor send delegations of his cabinet neither official condolence message”. They noted.

Former governors of the state, Saminu Turaki and Sule Lamido along with their supporters have since visited the family house of the late former CP, Babankowa and condoled with the families over the death. The speaker of the state assembly, Hon. Idris Garba was at the residence to equally condole the family.

The speaker was said to have been in the residence of late Babakowa personally not officially based on his relationship with one of the sons of the deceased, Engr. Mohammed Ibrahim Ahmed who happens to be a closed friend to him, so also the commissioner of agriculture, Alhaji Kabiru Ali was at the house based on his relationship with the late Babankowa.

Universalreporters247.com observed that most of the people who visited the house for condolence and realized that the state governor did not show up neither send government delegations nor write official condolence letter to the family, people of Ringim and the Jigawa state in general have expressed their annoyance on the development.

When Contacted the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Mal. Bello M. Zaki said he wasn’t not certain if governor Badaru has visited the house of late deceased for condolence or not, but stated that as per as concern he issued a press release condoling the families on behalf of the state government to local media in the state and even one of the national dailies (LeadershipNewspapers) published the story.
