51 Persons Arrested With 1261 Cartons Of Alcohol In Jigawa

Despite the Sharia implementation in the northern part of the country the Jigawa State Hisba Command have arrested 51 suspects at various local government in the state at various hotels selling and drinking alcohols which is against the ethics of Islam , the Hisba Command said that in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa state 24 person were arrested with 368 cartons of alcohol for both assorted sachets and bottles  and other 152 empty bottles of alcohols.

The State Commandant of the Hisba Board Ustaz Aliyu Muhammed Galamawa said four cans of locally made alcohols which is known as Burkutu was included among the Hisba exhibit with one set of generator as he lamented that also one carton of condom was discovered during the arrest of the suspect at Ibrahim Danmama Guest House in Kazaure.

The Command has charged the suspects to Upper Sharia Court in which the suspect were remanded in prison for two weeks by the presiding Judge Mamuda Tahir as he said the suspect will face the action of the law that is equal to the nature of the offense committed.

In a similar report the Hisba Command also impounded 803 bottles of alcohol which is equivalent to 76 cartons of alcohols in Sule Tankarkar Local Government alongside with one motorcycle together with six person which are Balaraba Adamu, Yufa Sulaiman, Sadiya Abubakar Babura, Tapshak Sunday, Lawan Shehu Kazaure And Maman Anthony all were paraded before Sule Tankarkar Upper Sharia Court and remanded for two weeks in Gumel prison.

The Command also added that in Maigatari Local Government three persons were arrested with 8 bottles of whisky and were prosecuted by Maigatari Upper Sharia Court as Justice Isa Mahammed Isah served each of the them with 80 lashes with a fine of seven thousand each or three months imprisonment, however none of the suspects were able to pay the fine as a result of that the court jailed them for three month terms each.

Meanwhile in Gumel the Hisba Command arrested nine people with 150 cartons of alcohol together with 28 empty cartons at Awala Hotel in Gumel in which the suspect were taken to Upper Sharia Court while the Christians among them were taken to a magistrate court for judgement.

Meanwhile 15 persons were arrested in Gumel with 19 cartons of alcohol with 21 empty cartons of same product and were all paraded before Gumel Sharia Court.
