2,420 Schools In Plateau Benefit From Modern Functional Water System Toilets

The Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, PSUBEB, has said that it has installed over 2,420 modern functional water system toilets in schools across the (17) Local Government Councils to help boost academic learning environment in public schools for boys and girls.

 

The Chairman Prof Mathew Sule has said, the deployment of primary schools Teachers and feeding program of the federal government is not a scam in the state, even though the state had challenges of trying to meet up with some of the important areas of training and facilities.

 

Speaking to journalists at Dogon Dutse Jos North Local Government Area headquarters of PSUBEB, in Jos, he said 17 schools are currently enjoying the VIP toilet facilities which is equipped with the modern water system.

 

Sule disclosed that research conducted show that the exercise is not a scam were he debunked that, that is not true position of things to back up their fact, we have data of schools available for the public consumption to see under my watch.

 

However, he said, it is proper to clarify to you that government policy and programs with the introduction of schools feeding program is something done way back running into decades in the 50s milk were given to students to improve their learning.

 

Prof Sule maintained that about 13.3 million children who are out of schools all of these have necessitated on the encouraging the enrollment which encourages criminality.

 

He said government came up with the schools feeding program to attract and complete basic education, you can see there is a drastic improvement in children enrollment in Plateau state since the program was introduced.

 

Mathew reiterated that teaching and learning is a product of conducive learning environment and structure for the children everywhere is a support to be located in a remote area. Our attention is focused on infrastructures in schools to provide adequate and comfortable learning facilities.

 

According to him, about 60% of all deplorable conditions of schools we met in 2014, we got an intervention so now close to 200 schools are having furniture equipment with only 50% some are still in deficits.

 

He maintained that the third in the list of intervention we had almost 400 classrooms, we will not provide furniture with them enjoying standard so apart from those teachers now undergo training to meet up with the current equipment, adding, within the state capital you can hardly found children receiving lesson while sitting on bare floors or un-conducive place.

 

In the area of providing toilet facilities and conducive learning environment, the board built for females who find it difficult to enter bush but it is easy for the boys, we had over 2,420 schools with functional toilets, he added.
