2019 Polls: Imo-Born Ondo First Lady, Akeredolu Takes Voter Education To Imolites

Millions of electorates in Imo State have been advised to exercise their civic right and responsibility of voting during election appropriately in order to usher in a people-oriented government in the state.

Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs.Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu gave this advice during an emergency meeting held at the Comprehensive Secondary School Emeabiam in Owerri West LGA of Imo State with party leaders in her area,last weekend.

Mrs.Akeredolu reminded the people that election period is the period to take action against politicians characterized by greed, impunity, bitterness, selfishness and corruption through their votes, and urged them to rise up and speak through their votes,which she described as their electrol power to vote out bad leaders and as well as to vote into power good people.

The Imo-born Ondo First Lady decried the level of marginalization the area and maintained that people from the area have suffered tremendous set back under the successive governments in the state till date and encouraged them to take bold steps in the right directions to end the era of bad roads infrastructure, untapped abundant natural resources, absence of basic primary healthcare delivery, and unemployment in the area within and outside them.

In a related development, the Sunshine State First Lady has called on women and youths to participate fully active in the forthcoming elections as they constitute a greater percentage of the populace and are major stakeholders in the society.

The Governor’s wife made this call while addressing Emeabiam Women Union in her compound recently.

The Ondo State First Lady,Mrs.Akeredolu urged them to get their PVCs ready for action in the right direction, as it is the only way to eliminate bad government, alleviate poverty and end hunger in the society.

Meanwhile,in another development,the Ondo State First Lady,Her Excellency, Chief Mrs.Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu,was also on Monday,Feb.4th 2019 in Owerri, received an award as FACE OF HOPE  by the leadership of the Imo State Chapter of “Breast Cancer Association of  Nigeria,BRECAN,for her obvious endless commitment in raising awareness after defeating breast cancer for over 21 years.

Those who witnessed her award ceremony includes: the Special Assistant to Ondo state Governor on Social Media,Hon.Rowland Onyeukwu Iheloghara, her Personal Assistant, Lilian Ozioma Adesokan,and the Oncologist with the Federal Medical Center,FMC,Owerri, Rev. Sr.Dr. Angelica Anele.

In attendance also includes: the Acting Chairperson of BRECAN, Uchenna Ibe, and the Public Relations Officer,PRO, Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter,Emmanuel Egenti.

 The Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria BRECAN,Imo State Chapter marked  2019 World Cancer Day in Owerri with a seminar and WALK OF HOPE led by it’s founder and Imo-born Ondo State First Lady, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs.Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

The epoch making event took place at St. Marks Anglican Church hall, Amakohia-Uratta in Owerri North LGA of Imo State.
