The Coalition of Plateau Youth (CPY)  has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to allow religious leaders to bastardize his electioneering campaign by promoting personal interests, but to encourage inclusiveness.

The Chairman of the group Gujahar Obed Dakyes  noted with great concern the outburst made by Sheikh Yahaya Jingre in Kano and a subsequent interview by BBC Hausa calling Christians infidels, saying that they are a minority in Nigeria.

He stated that, as concerned youths, they don’t want to join issues with the statesman because Plateau State is home to 58 different ethnic groups, and we respect elders, especially his age.

Dakyes condemned that the statement attributed to Shelk Yahaya Jengre as provocative and lacking social cohesion towards promoting peaceful coexistence in the country, so we admonish the appropriate authority to invite him for questioning.

Spokesperson of the Coalition of Plateau  Youth at Tekan Headquarters in Jos on Monday, Comr  Azi Aware Peter said that the Federal Government should put an embargo by stopping all public preachers spreading diversion amongst the peace-loving Nigerians.

He disclosed that Shelk Yahaya Jengre is old enough to promote peaceful coexistence at his age, but turns out divisive religious rhetoric by calling fellow citizens infidels.

“We, the Youth on the Plateau, will not stand aloof or fold our hands and allow people like Yahaya Jengre to destroy our Common heritage and relative Peace in the Country.

“As A Respected, Responsible and Focused Youths with Brighter future, as well as law-abiding, we will not go on social media and rain Insults on his personality as we have been seeing it done by both Christians and Muslims across the country,” the statement added.

As an Elder Statement and Islamic Scholar, Sheik Jingre should borrow a leaf from other respected Islamic Leaders like Sheikh Masasuka,Sheik Nura Khalid, and others. Currently, our state is in difficult situation of insecurity, where people are being attacked and killed daily.

Hence,we need synergy and unity. In the Book of Amos Chapter 3:3 says, the two cannot work together unless they agree.

How can Nigeria be a Country of Muslims when we have 20 Governors as Christians out of 36 States? Out of 48 Ministers,28 are Christians? Among other Positions.

It is with total dismay and outright Condemnation for an elder like Sheikh Jingre to continue sowing the seeds of discord among Nigerians.

We are calling on both Muslims and Christians to unite and disregard the drums of war beaten by Sheikh Jingre on daily basis.Kudos to JNI,Plateau State Chapter, for her swift response and dissociating herself from that terrible act of Shame exhibited by him.Sheikh Jingre should know that we have good Muslims both indigenous and others, and have been contributing their quota to the Development of our dear state.

We therefore, call on the President, Security Agencies, Particularly, the DSS and the Police, to invite Sheikh Jingre and investigate such derogatory statements against  Christians in Nigeria.

Particularly the genocide against Christians Communities and land grabbing in Plateau State and Other Middle Belt States.

Also speaking was Mr Yakubu Pam, who emphasized that the style of leadership that is watching the commentary of religious leaders is not palatable to the unity of oneness in Nigeria.

He also explained further that Nigerians cannot be punished by sessions of selfish groups of leaders in the name of religion.

Pam noted that the continued silence of our leaders over the outright backlash against a particular religion is unacceptable because of the APC Muslim Brotherhood.
