Prominent sons and daughters of the Delta South senatorial zone on Sunday made another concerted effort at charting a pathway towards ensuring responsible and accountable leadership in Delta State come 2015.

Meeting under the aegis of Itsekiri, Ijaw and Isoko Progressives in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area, the leaders made some statements about the position of the three ethnic groups regarding the 2015 governorship election in the state. They also resolved to work against persons with questionable character and track record.
“Given the fact that Delta Central and Delta South have dominated the highest office in the state, Delta North shall produce the governor come 2015” they declared.

Emphasizing that democracy should empower all to aspire to public office; the leaders said the business of governance was far too serious to be entrusted in the hands of novices or persons with questionable character and track record.
“Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, a member of the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), is a woman of high integrity and high principles. She is a great administrator, seasoned technocrat and a lover of people. She is well entrenched in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She is our choice and will be governor of Delta State in 2015” the leaders said.
In a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Mrs. Rosemary Clark, the leaders described Olejeme as “a political institution in Nigeria and an ardent believer in the policies and programmes of the present administration”
The leaders called on the people from Delta North to unite, speak with one voice and strongly resist any political arrangement that will deter the area from getting the governorship slot in 2015.
They also implored Olejeme to continue her good work.
“Olejeme has endeared herself to development conscious Nigerians as a veritable model. In NSITF and other institutions, she has empowered several people and cemented an enduring friendship with people from all walks of life”.
They urged Deltans, irrespective of ethnic and cultural persuasion to join hands with men and women of good conscience to make Olejeme governor in 2015.
The leaders who also commended the cordial relationship existing between the governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Dr. Olejeme, advised spin doctors not to waste their time.
“Olejeme, who doubles as Board Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and the Trust Fund Pension Plc, is capable of consolidating on the gains so far made in Delta State” the leaders said.
