2006 Population Census: Karu Alone Is More Than 1.8m People-Governor Sule Reacts

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has said the outcome of the 2006 headcount, which revealed that the population of the state is 1.8 million people was a mere gimmick by the National Population Commission.

The state Governor disclosed this during a town hall meeting of North-Central states  with members of the presidential Steering committee held in Lafia

Engineer Abdullahi Sule expressed grief over the population which he said is affecting the state directly.

He said the population of the Karu Local Government alone is over 1.8 million, Thanking the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for the brotherliness seeking for special status for the state.

Engineer Abdullahi Sule averred that the state has taken stringent approach to curtailing the spread of the virus by equipping isolation centers across the three senatorial zones.

He unveiled that over forty trucks of consumables were donated by Cocavid and shared as  palliatives to the people of the state with the sole aim of cushioning the effect of Coronavirus.

The further stated that key persons in the state extended to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies presented themselves for vaccination.

A professor of Microbiology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Maryam Aminu in her presentation said AstraZeneca is 95 percent effective.

She further maintained that the vaccine does not contain RNA nor alters DNA.

Professor Maryam opined that the vaccine AstraZeneca is better than Pfizer’s vaccine.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Enahire appreciate the commitment of Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for his efforts to contain the situation.

The Chairman Nasarawa State Task Force on COVID-19 Dr. Emmanuel Akabe  thanked the Presidential Steering committee for giving utmost attention to Nasarawa State.
