The Chairmanship candidates of the opposition political parties, The Zenith Labour Party,Hon.Ibrahim Yakubu Ogeyi and The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon.Mohammed Baba Musa.
The political debate was organized by Alago Development Association , Doma Debate Group in collaboration with other Civil Society Organizations with a theme “Changing the narrative”.
Chairman of the Debate committee, Dr.Louis Ogbose in his remark said the Association organized the debate to enable electoral choose an eligible Chairman that would woo development to Doma Local Government.
Hon.Ahmed Sarki Usman In his presentation disclosed that he would accord topmost priority to Local Government reform by ensuring that there is conducive working atmosphere for civil servants at the third tier of Government.
Other cardinal area of concern, According to Sarki also includes changing the narrative of imbalance which resulted to delay in the payment of monthly wage.
The Chairmanship candidate said he would beam his searchlight in the area of infrastructure which has to do with road, desilting of drainages.
Other agenda of the APC Chairmanship Candidate is in the area of food security, Hon.Ahmed Sarki Usman promise to boost agriculture.
He said impetus would be given to the education sector by working assiduously with the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board to enhance primary education in all ramifications.
In the area of Security, The Chairmanship candidate said ardent attention would be given to security while considering farming as the predominant occupation would be strengthened.
He stated that he would embrace the Community Based Resolution Approach would be strengthened by working with the vigilante group whom he said is within the community.
With the presence of Dam in the Doma Local Government Council, The Chairmanship candidate explained that he would add value to the existing dam to boost tourism.
In the area of gully erosion that ravages part of Dadinkowa in Sabon Gari ward, He disclosed that he would work for hand in hand with the ecological office to proffer a lasting solution to erosion that is a threat to the inhabitants.
On the issue of Internally Generated Revenue, he buttressed that he would introduce a tax regime by collecting what is due for the Local Government.
Commenting on the leakages of the indigene certificate of Doma Local Government, The contestant says he would do everything possible to block leakages in the issuance of indigene certificate by some gullible civil servants mostly in the custody of the certificate.
Architect Ahmed Sarki Usman said if elected as the next Chairman he would nip the proliferation of indigene certificates by the bud.
The two Chairmanship candidates of the ZLP and PDP as at press time were conspicuously absent at the debate.
Precisely 2:46 pm on Saturday shortly after the meeting the PDP Chairmanship candidate, Muhammed Baba Musa in a telephone interview said his party prevented him from attending the debate.
While the ZLP Chairmanship candidate, Ibrahim Yakubu Ogeyi would not be reached for comment.
The Chairman shortly after the exercise says they are looking for to sustain the program in the nearest future.
