YAN Donates N600,000 ,5,000 Exercise Books To Vulnerable Students In Nasarawa State

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, Honorable,Fati Sabo has described education as a catalyst for economic development, saying Girl,-Child education would never be over-emphasized.

 

Fati Sabo expressed discontentment over the high rate of dropout and illiterates amongst the womenfolk in the society.

 

The Honorable Commissioner disclosed this during the maiden edition of Engineer Abdullahi Sule debate competition for Girl-Children in Some selected Schools in Nasarawa State.

 

Hajiya Amina Hussaini who represented the State Commissioner of Education further explained that education serves as a barrier for breaking poverty in society.

 

She urged parents and guardians alike to accord topmost priority to the education of Girl-Children in the State.

 

The convener of the event, Comrade Habiba Umar in her keynote address commended the State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule for supporting the programme.

 

Habiba opined that the debate competition was in tandem with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s holistic approach to transform the education sector down to earth.

 

Adding that the objective of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria was partly anchored on collaborating with Government and all relevant institutions to promote sound, accessible and qualitative education for Girl-Child.

 

Comrade Habiba Umar says the support of YAN to the State Government would never be over-emphasized while considering the plight of womenfolk’s education-wise.

 

She decried the dwindling of education with core challenges which, if left unchecked would become a stumbling block to the attainment which she reeled out based from one community depending on its peculiarities.

 

“There is this myopic thinking that educating a woman is a waste of time and resources while other communities tenacity is that education would expose women to prostitution*.

 

Hibaba averred that YAN Nasarawa State chapter is poised to change the narratives positively by bringing the Girl-Child together to inculcate the virtues of academic excellence, love for one another.

 

“Habiba said YAN printed 500 exercise books for onward distribution to the participants aimed at promoting Girl-Child education”.

 

She appreciates the State Speaker of Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Comrade Jaafar Loko for his steadfastness.

 

The National Speaker, Shuaibu Sani in his address applauded the committed members of the Association for doing good work.
