As part of the effort to reduce road crashes in the state , governor Inuwa Yahaya yesterday inaugurated Committee on road safety advisory council with a view to end unwanted road crashes which have been the major problem affecting the nation.
Governor Yahaya who was represented by his deputy Dr Mannasah Daniel Jatau said Gombe state government is committed to constitute a committee on road safety advisory council in ensuring that road crashes that affect the public reduced to 0 percent.
He appealed to committee members to do as much as possible to ensure that the task repose on them to be carry out effectively.
According to him, necessary funding will be given adequate priority to boost the committee to carry out their legitimate functions.
In a vote of thanks, commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Gombe Mr. Godwin Omiko thanked the government for the gesture and assure that they will do everything possible to ensure that sensitization reach motorists on the danger of reckless driving on roads.
He appreciated with the caliber of people in the committee constituted by government which according to him will not only benefit Gombe state but the north east in general.
The sector commandant of the FRSC said Governor Inuwa Yahaya is the second governor after Kwara state to inaugurate such committee on road safety advisory council to ensure speedy delivery on Nigeria road for safety.
He called on other security agencies to put hand on deck to see that crashes affecting the people reduced to its minimum.
